I love making pot roast in the slow cooker, but couldn't find the right herbs, etc. to give it good flavor. Tried this today and Dad & I really enjoyed it - it gave the meal the flavor that I had been missing! Plus the recipes I had tried always put the veggies on the bottom and the potatoes were always pretty soggy - this works much better.

Potato is my favourite vegetable & starch. This soup looks delicious... and 1 lb of bacon? How decadent. I can feel my arteries clogging though I'd have a huge smile on my face!

I know, I know. And I live with a Whole Foods in my town too. And they do have good fresh herbs. But they don't carry a lot of things (probably no demand) and I often have to resort to ordering some items online.
Still, with some recipes I have to go to 3 stores to put it together. Who has the time?
I am not really complaining- we are spoiled. Europeans go from specialty store to specialty store to get a meal together- I know 'cause my daughter lived there for 6 years.
At least we have good weather to do the driving in.
